Skunks
Skunks (Mephitis mephitis) have short stocky legs and proportionately large feet with well developed claws making them excellent diggers. They are slow animals but confident they can defend themselves. Skunks dicharge a musk from the anal gland capable of firing several shots about 10-15 feet away with accuracy. Prior to a skunk spraying they usually give a warning by stomping their feet. While skunks are generally mild-tempered, loud noises, or quick and aggressive actions should be avoided. It is best to keep pets and children from exciting or tormenting the caged animal.
